Wilton 2011 Community Carnival Review

Gary Nunn, Chairman of the Carnival

Thousands of happy people flocked to enjoy the hot sunshine and the many attractions of Wilton Community Carnival on 2nd July. The procession with a theme of “Animal Kingdom” contained over twenty-five local entrants and was followed by the crowds who lined the streets through to Castle Meadow to enjoy the free fun afternoon. There were many winners but the overall winner of the En-Spired Carnival Club Shield was First Wilton Cubs with Dr Dolittle.

Just some of the attractions were classic cars, a dozen Harley Davidson motorcycles, a dozen Wiltshire Mayors, display, The Colton Dancers, The Spitfires Scouts Band from Eastleigh, Wilton Royal British Legion Band and Salisbury’s top covers band The Zucchinis. The most popular event was the fun dog show, which was presented and judged by Spire FM’s Chris Ewington who, with the dogs and owners, provided great entertainment. Country Pursuit then gave a tremendous display of birds of prey including a mighty South African fish eagle which thrilled the crowds as it swooped low over their heads.

Gary Nunn, Chairman of the Carnival said: “This was an outstanding event for Wilton again this year and we were delighted with the response from everyone. It makes a year of voluntary work all worthwhile, and this really is a community carnival. Thank you to everyone for making it the best Carnival yet!
